All over the country school classrooms are serviced by aging timber ramps. Timber ramps deteriorate very quickly and their walking surfaces become very slippery when wet. Timber ramps are often chosen for being cheap and fast to build, however they often fall short of modern accessibility guidelines.
You might be surprised to hear that our ramps are often no more expensive than a timber ramp, far quicker to install and we can adhere to all building regulations for a complete access solution for classrooms. Our strong aluminium framework and structural grade steel legs are also perfect for very high volumes of traffic such as for a classroom.
For this particular project we removed an existing timber ramp ourselves and installed our public access system, all in one day’s work. The ground underneath the ramp, unmaintained and undulating earth encased in the timber for years, was no problem for our adjustable legs and enlarged feet. We also fitted an infill balustrade to close off the channel between the ramp and the classroom, perfect for preventing unsafe access to children.
